On October 25, the whole world celebrated the International Pasta Day.
AMAKS Congress Hotel and restaurant "Yesenin" did not ignore this holiday and pleased their guests with interesting dishes from this beloved product.
And here are some interesting facts about pasta that you probably didn't know:
- Despite the fact that Italy is the number one country for the production of pasta, it was first prepared in China, back in the 5th century BC.
- The most famous recipe for cooking pasta "al dente" (that is, "by the tooth", a little raw, with an undercooked core) in Russia had its own name, accurately reflecting the essence of the dish - "for the good".
- If all the pasta that is eaten in Italy alone in a year turned into spaghetti, then the length of such pasta would be 600 million kilometers, and it can be wrapped around the Earth 15,000 times.
- In 1957, as an April Fool's joke, the BBC broadcaster showed a story about the "achievement of agriculture". On the screen, peasants in the field were picking boiled pasta, and the announcer claimed that as a result of many generations of breeding, it was finally possible to harvest pasta of the same length. The editorial office of the TV company was soon bombarded with a hail of letters asking for advice on where to buy seedlings for growing pasta. In general, the drawing was a success.
